Volume change in industrial production in the Member States of the European Union, July 2025

The volume of industrial production, based on calendar adjusted data, grew by 1.8% in the European Union in July 2025, year-on-year. Industrial output was larger in the majority of the member states compared to the previous year, the largest growth occurring in Latvia (9.8%), followed by Ireland with 8.1%. The largest decrease occurred in Bulgaria (–8.3%).

Based on calendar adjusted data the July 2025 production volume in industry was below the one year earlier level by 1.1% in Hungary1. Considering the Visegrad countries industrial performance grew by 3.1% in Poland, by 1.8% in Czechia, and lessened by 4.6% in Slovakia.

Industrial output grew by 2.1% in Hungary and increased by 0.2% in the EU as a whole compared to the previous month. The domestic increase is identical with that of Slovenia, only Croatia (with a 2.6% growth) surpassing it.

Based on unadjusted data the volume of the July 2025 industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 1.0% in Hungary. Production volume decreased in the majority of manufacturing subsections (between 2.9%–20.0%), most of all in coke production and petroleum refining. Among the large weight representing subsections output grew by 0.1% in the manufacture of transport equipment, by 1.3% in the food industry, by 28% in the electronics industry, year-on-year. Besides, the wood, paper and printing industry as well as the manufacture of machinery and equipment registered production volume increases, too (1.5% and 3.3%).

According to the prognosis of Trading Economics2 industrial production is going to grow in Hungary, quarterly by 3.5%–4.0%, year-on-year, in the period between the 4th quarter of 2025 and the 2nd quarter of 2026.

According to domestic methodology the calendar adjusted volume of industrial production in Hungary lessened by 1.0% in July compared to the same month of the previous year, and grew by 2.0% considering seasonally and calendar adjusted data, compared to the previous month.
