Volume change in industrial production in the Member States of the European Union, September 2025

The volume of industrial production, based on calendar adjusted data, grew by 2.0% in the European Union in September 2025, year-on-year. Industrial output was larger in the majority of the member states compared to the previous year, the largest growth occurring in Sweden (14.7%), followed by Denmark (9.5%) and Greece (7.1%). The largest decrease occurred in Bulgaria (5.6%).
Based on calendar adjusted data the September 2025 production volume in industry was below the one year earlier level by 1.6% in Hungary1. Considering the Visegrad countries industrial performance grew by 6.0% in Poland, and increased in an almost identical degree in Slovakia and Czechia, by 0.6% and 0.5%.
Industrial output increased by 1.3% in Hungary and by 0.8% in the EU as a whole compared to the previous month. Among the member states the performance of Denmark, grew the most (by 7.2%).
Based on unadjusted data the volume of the September 2025 industrial production surpassed the one year earlier level by 1.3% in Hungary. The fact that production grew by 41% in the electronics industry, with its 14% share in industrial production, played a significant part in this trend. Among the two other large weight representing subsections the volume went up by 1.8% in the food industry, while it lessened by 1.4% in the manufacture of transport equipment, year-on-year. The volume fell in the majority of the manufacturing subsections (by 0.8 – 17.7%), most of all in the small weight representing pharmaceutical industry.
According to the prognosis of Trading Economics2 industrial production is going to grow in Hungary in the period between the 1st and 3rd quarters of 2026, quarterly by 0.3 – 1.5%, year-on-year.
