Leadership role in a changing data environment

Press breakfast at HCSO

On 16 February 2024, Dr. Áron Kincses, President of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), and the Deputy Presidents of the Office, Dénes Ádám, Dr. Szabolcs Tóth and Dr. Gábor Valkó, received representatives of the media and leading analysts of the economic world at a press breakfast. Tamás Uhrinyi, Managing Director of the National Data Asset Management Agency (NDAM), was invited to the event.

The first presidential press breakfast of the HCSO was held in autumn 2023 with the aim to establish a tradition, which is continued by this event. This February's press breakfast focused on innovation and digitisation, data governance and data asset management, and the use of administrative data. There was a discussion on the ongoing official projects of the Hungarian data asset management, such as the Virtual Hungary or the Event-Based Data Service Platform, as well as on the transfer of the ownership rights of the NDAM to the HCSO and its professional advantages. After the President's and Deputy Presidents' reports, the press and economic experts asked questions on the methodology of inflation, the applicability and challenges of artificial intelligence, GDP to be published by T+30 in the first quarter of 2024, and the introduction of experimental statistics, among others.
