The Hungarian Central Statistical Office is adding a new component to its experimental statistics offer

The goal is the comparison of regional fuel prices

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) is publishing its new, experimental statistics on 19 April 2024 with the scope to monitor and compare the region’s fuel prices. The Eurostat Weekly Oil Bulletin is the basis of the fuel prices experimental statistics, HCSO is calculating from its data regional average prices for petrol 95 and diesel fuel.

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) created a new online interface at the beginning of 2024 for publishing the newest, innovative methodological procedures as well as experimental statistics based on alternative data sources. Experimental statistics offer data for meeting newly emerging data requests, for covering currently discovered knowledge-gaps and for ensuring efficient assistance in policy decision making, for actors from economic and scientific fields, and the society as a whole. Additional fine tuning is to be expected in the future in the fuel prices experimental statistics, too, for increasing speed, efficiency as well as innovation.

The Eurostat Weekly Oil Bulletin is the basis of the fuel prices experimental statistics, HCSO is calculating from its data regional average prices for petrol 95 and diesel fuel. The purpose of this new statistics is monitoring and comparison, furthermore, highlights regional price differences as per particular countries and Hungary. HCSO is publishing on a weekly basis, starting 19 April 2024, fuel price statistic regarding Hungary and the countries from the region, time series are downloadable and offer retroactive data from 2 January 2023.

The presentation of the economic, social and environmental state and processes through statistical data is a statutory task of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. The HCSO is committed to inform its users in an objective and transparent manner, as well as to meet newly emerging market and decision-making demands in an all-inclusive, professional way. Statistical data published by the Office are comparable internationally and nationally in a transparent way, serving as such as independent points of reference.
