The scientific performance of HCSO journals is at the international forefront

The scientometric measurements of the international, multidisciplinary databases Scopus and Web of Science have ranked journals Regional Statistics, Statisztikai Szemle and Területi Statisztika published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) in a high place. Regional Statistics belongs to the Emerging Sources Citation Index in the Web of Science scientific database. From 2023, an Impact Factor is also calculated for the journals included in this index. The first value for Regional Statistics is 2.3.

In the recently published Scopus ranking of more than one hundred and twenty Central European economic journals based on citations, Regional Statistics is ranked 6th, Területi Statisztika 27th and Statisztikai Szemle 60th. Scopus is the largest database of peer-reviewed international literature, covering 240 disciplines.

The scientific performance of journal Regional Statistics published by HCSO is also outstanding according to the Web of Science quality indicators, also based on citations. The Web of Science database includes qualitative data from the 1900s to the present day in a wide range of scientific fields. There are numerous methods for measuring the scientific performance of a peer-reviewed journal, one of the most typical of which is the number of citations of that journal in other peer-reviewed publications, that is, the Impact Factor.

Regional Statistics belongs to the Emerging Sources Citation Index in the Web of Science scientific database. From 2023, an Impact Factor is also calculated for the journals included in this index. The first value for Regional Statistics is 2.3.
