High-Value Datasets
The High-Value Datasets site is available at https://data.ksh.hu.
Based on Implementing Regulation 2023/138 adopted by the European Commission on 21 December 2022, we display statistical topics related high-value datasets (HVDs), published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) in machine-readable format. These datasets are freely accessible via APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) in machine-readable format, and include the associated metadata and data schemas. The regulation defines the thematic categorization of high-value datasets:
- geospatial data,
- earth observation and environmental data,
- meteorological data,
- statistics,
- companies and company ownership data,
- mobility related data.
The regulation also sets out the conditions for their publication and reuse.
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) makes datasets related to the field of statistics available at https://data.ksh.hu in a catalogued format. The purpose of publishing high-value statistical datasets in this way is to ensure that public data with the greatest socio-economic potential are freely accessible for further use, with minimal legal and technical restrictions. The production and structuring of high-value datasets in the statistical domain follow the specifications set out in EU regulations, which, in certain cases may differ from the statistics available at the HCSO’s STADAT site and its Dissemination database.
For each dataset, beside the downloadable data, processing-supporting schemas and metadata are also available. The schemas define the data structure, determine how it can be queried and stored, the metadata describe the content and other characteristics of the datasets, aiding their interpretation and efficient use.
The datasets, along with their associated schemas and metadata are uploaded continuously.
