National Statistical Survey Programme (NSSP)

The HCSO is responsible for the compilation and monitoring of the implementation of the National Statistical Survey Programme of the Official Statistical Service (OSS).

The provisions of Act CLV of 2016 on Official Statistics (Act on Official Statistics, Stt.) have restructured the content of the National Statistical Data Collection Programme, therefore, from 2018 onwards, the NSSP will be re-structured and expanded.

One part of the NSSP is the set of compulsory data collections compiled and published in the NSSP Government Decree pursuant to Section 26 of the Act and other data taransmissions ordered pursuant to Section 29 of the Act.

The statistics produced from the mandatory data collections ordered from the NSSP provide information on the state of society, the economy, the environment and its changes for public authorities, local governments, economic organisations, including financial markets, NGOs, academics, the general public, the media and international organisations, in particular the institutions of the European Union.

Pursuant to Article 26 of the Act, the obligation of legal persons carrying out economic activities in Hungary, as well as natural persons carrying out economic activities and organisations with legal capacity under the law of personality to provide statistical data on their economic activities, is laid down by Government decree by 30 November each year.

Another part of the NSSP is the collection of data from secondary data sources not requiring government regulation under the Stt. regulation, as well as the population movement surveys ordered by the Stt. and the voluntary data collections too.
