Data Without Borders: An Integrated International Database on the HCSO Website
To ensure clear and high quality public information, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) has expanded its platform presenting international data. As a result of the development, international indicators that were previously scattered across various sections of the website are now brought together on a single, structured overview page. The transparent, theme-based organisation significantly accelerates data access, comparison, and the preparation of fact-based analyses.
A strategic objective of the HCSO is to present its data assets in a user friendly manner and to simplify access to information. In line with this aim, the Office has created an integrated interface that brings together international statistical indicators—from economic metrics to social data—within a unified system. To enhance user experience, the STADAT tables are displayed by major thematic areas and arranged in alphabetical categories, making targeted information retrieval considerably easier. The data are available not only in tabular form but also through analytical publications accessible directly from the interface and organised by date of release. These publications include charts and maps to support interpretation, while data visualisations present complex relationships even more intuitively.
The expansion of the subpage’s content supports the work of a wide range of users: economic decision makers and analysts can more easily place domestic developments in an international context and identify regional trends, while researchers, lecturers, and students can devote more resources to substantive research thanks to faster data collection, and specialised journalists can incorporate international data into their articles from a reliable source with minimal time investment.
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office is confident that the expanded platform will serve as a valuable resource for a broad user community, and that the clearer structure will make everyday data use noticeably more efficient. In the spirit of clear and high-quality communication, the HCSO will continue to update the subpage to support a more accurate understanding of European and global developments.
