HCSO and Budapest Metropolitan University strengthen their relationship through a cooperation agreement

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) and the Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) have strengthened their professional relationship through a cooperation agreement. The agreement was signed by Dr. Áron Kincses, President of the HCSO and Prof. Dr. György Kocziszky, Rector of METU on 5 March 2024 at a ceremony in the Palace of Statistics.

The management of HCSO and METU decided to intensify their cooperation in order to improve the statistical skills of the university students through their joint efforts. The cooperation will include the integration of teaching materials produced by HCSO staff into the METU training system, the possibility of joint publications and the establishment of a statistical research room on the premises of METU.

The two institutions attach particular importance to statistical education, to enhancing the statistical culture of young people and to deepening their analytical skills. In order to achieve these objectives, Dr. Áron Kincses, President of HCSO, and Prof. Dr. György Kocziszky, Rector of METU, concluded an agreement on the integration of the curricula developed by HCSO into university education and on the involvement of the statistical office in the announcement and evaluation of thesis and scientific student research projects.

The cooperation will allow METU students to get to know the Office's experts and representatives of the profession, in addition to acquiring knowledge of professional statistics. Furthermore, the HCSO supports the operation and maintenance of a statistical research room in the METU building, providing the necessary technical and information security conditions. In the framework of this cooperation, HCSO and METU are planning joint research and publications.
