Press release, 31.05.2023.

New title and expanded content for the first release on commercial accommodation establishments

From the reference month of April 2023, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) will publish its monthly first release on the turnover of commercial accommodation establishments and the related Stadat tables with extended data content. The data published so far for commercial accommodation establishments will be complemented by important information on private and other accommodation. Due to the expansion of the data, and in the interests of accuracy, the first release and the tables will be published from now on under the title "Turnover of tourist accommodation establishments", for the first time on 1 June 2023.

From the reference month of April 2023 onwards, the HCSO first release on commercial accommodation establishments will be published with extended data content. The data published so far will be supplemented with important information on private and other accommodation (capacity, arrivals, guest turnover) and will be presented as a set of data on tourist accommodation. The first extended version of the first release will be published on 1 June 2023, now entitled Turnover of tourist accommodation establishments. Tourist accommodation includes commercial accommodation (hotels, boarding houses, camping sites, bungalow complexes and community hostels), as well as private and other accommodation. Extended data will be retrievable in the Stadat tables back to January 2022. The comparability over time of data on commercial accommodation will continue to be ensured from 2021 onwards, as the HCSO will also publish data separately from data on private and other accommodation.

As previously reported by the Office, under the agreement between the Hungarian Tourism Agency (HTA) and the HCSO, the HCSO will publish its monthly accommodation statistics from June 2022 onwards on the basis of the data of the National Tourism Data Centre (NTAC) operated by the HTA. The signing of the agreement was followed by a three-month test period, after which the Office phased out the data collection it had been operating under the National Statistical Data Collection Programme (NSDCP) and has been publishing its accommodation statistics with an increased range of data.
