1. Areas of expertise of the Agricultural Data Collection Department:
1.1.  agricultural statistics,
1.2.  agricultural producer price statistics, agricultural expenditure and sales statistics,
1.3.  environmental statistics and environmental expenditure statistics,
1.4.  agricultural censuses and large-sample surveys of agriculture,
1.5.  management and maintenance of data supplier registers,
1.6.  to carry out the tasks of data collection related to the maintenance of data supplier registers.
 
2. Tasks of the Agriculture Statistics Data Collection Department according to the statistical data production process:
2.1.  in the field of development and testing: to test data collection programmes and questionnaires, and to comment on questionnaire specifications;
2.2.  in the field of survey organisation and training: to ensure the availability of the personal and technical conditions necessary for carrying out data collection, to train data collectors, to co-operate in notifying respondents and data holders of their data provision obligations, to produce questionnaires, study-aids and training materials;
2.3.  in the field of collecting, urging and receiving data:
  2.3.1. to collect statistical data and their metadata,
  2.3.2. to provide professional and technical support for the activities of data collectors and data providers,
  2.3.3. to perform tasks related to the ELEKTRA Call Centre;
  2.3.4. to urge (by telephone, via e-mail or in letter) non-received questionnaires;
  2.3.5. reception and following up of data, in-process monitoring and quality measurement of data collections;
  2.3.6. to code reasons for missing questionnaires or data transmissions;
2.4.  to complete data collection;
2.5.  in the field of coding: to code collected data according to nomenclatures and classifications;
2.6.  in the field of micro-validation or meso-validation:
  2.6.1. comparison of collected elementary data according to pre-defined validation criteria;
  2.6.2. comparison of elementary-level data with data from other data sources;
  2.6.3. identification of outliers;
  2.6.4. correction of coding errors;
  2.6.5. meso-validation;
2.7.  in the field of editing:
  2.7.1. reconciliation of detected errors with data submitters;
  2.7.2. correction of errors according to pre-defined rules;
2.8.  to complete data preparation;
2.9.  to perform register maintenance tasks related to data collections;
2.10.  to co-operate in design and development tasks of data collections;
2.11.  tasks related to the transmission of data from administrative data sources, in connection with the maintenance of the agricultural register;
2.12.  to maintain contacts with data providers in respect of all events arising during the preparation and implementation of data collections;
2.13.  in the frame of the co-operation agreement between HCSO and Statek Ltd., to co-ordinate preparatory tasks related to the survey of non-key private holdings, to agree on professional expectations, to monitor the fulfilment of expectations, to liaise with Statek Ltd.
