Dear Intrastat Data Providers,
We would like to inform you of the following changes for the year 2022:

From 1 January 2022, new European Union legislation will enter into force for intra-Union trade in goods statistics:
- Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics and
- Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 to the aforementioned regulation

Under the EU Regulation, from 2022 Member States will be obliged to exchange micro-data, the main data elements of which will be the ’Country of origin’ and the ’Partner tax ID number’ as provided in the Dispatches questionnaires. Without filling in these fields, the questionnaire can not be submitted and will be strictly checked by the ELEKTRA (electronic data collection) system. You can see the accepted format of the Partner tax ID numbers IN THIS TABLE, or you can check the correctness of the Partner tax ID numbers on the European Commission's VIES page.
