HCSO publishes May motor fuel price statistics

Based on data in the Weekly Oil Bulletin, published by the EU, and on price caps introduced in Hungary and effective from 10 March 2026, the average price of 95-octane petrol was 595 forints and that of diesel motor fuel 615 forints in Hungary in the month of May. The price of petrol was 23 forints or 3.7% and that of diesel oil 37 forints or 5.7% lower on average in Hungary compared to the prices in neighbouring countries. In countries in the region, the average May price for petrol was 601 forints, the price in Hungary being 1.0% or 6 forints lower. The regional average price for diesel equalled 634 forints, the average price in Hungary being 3.0% or 19 forints lower.
