External Trade Statistics Department

 

1. Areas of expertise of the External Trade Statistics Department:
1.1. statistics on external trade in goods and services,
1.2. statistics on external trade prices,
1.3. external trade macro accounts.
1.4. Data surveys related to external trade statistics and the external trade register.
 
2. Tasks of the External Trade Statistics Department related to the statistical data production process:
2.1. the planning, technical preparation and implementation of the reception of data from the surveys of the HCSO on external trade in goods, as well as from the data collections of other bodies of the Official Statistical Service and administrative data sources, and the contact with data providers, both regular and ad hoc. Quality control, database organisation, correction, meso-validation and processing of statistical data, as well as the continuous development of registers, regular monitoring and maintenance of their data content;
2.2. planning, technical preparation, implementation, quality control, correction and meso-validation of the data surveys of the HCSO on external trade in services, as well as planning, technical preparation, processing and database management of the data received from other bodies of the Official Statistical Service and administrative data sources, as well as the performance, maintenance and development of data processing procedures in the various areas, and contacting with data providers;
2.3. planning, technical preparation, implementation, processing, quality control, correction and database management of statistical surveys of external trade prices, and contacting with data providers;
2.4. compiling external trade statistics data according to the needs of macro statistics (national accounts, balance of payments), documenting the methodology and implementing improvements under the professional coordination of the National Accounts Department;
2.5. validation of the collected and received data from an activity perspective;
2.6. participation in the technical support of the tasks of the departments responsible for meso-validation;
2.7. documenting and developing the methodology of the specialised areas for which the department is responsible;
2.8. producing data compilations, analyses and first releases on the statistics in the field of the department's activities;
2.9. contributing to the development of HCSO publications relating to multiple statistical areas;
2.10.  national and international dissemination and data transmission as well as ensuring access to data.
