Integrated Farm Statistics data collection – IFS 2026
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) is conducting an integrated farm statistics (IFS) data collection between 15 May and 15 July 2026 under the name Agrárium, 2026.
The aim of the data collection is to monitor changes in the structure of agriculture and to provide accurate and reliable information for national and EU farmers. For this, it is indispensable that data providers participate and provide accurate data.
Why is the data collection necessary?
The data collection is mandatory in EU member states under Regulation (EU) 2018/1091 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2914.
The information from agricultural data collections helps farmers considerably make plans and economic decisions. In addition, it supports decision-makers with timely, detailed and reliable data so that they can take measures that benefit the farming community.
Accurate data provision is highly essential to enable farmers, their representative organisations as well as government decision-makers to make their decisions in the interests of farmers and relying on reliable data. These data serve as a basis, too, for planning subsidy policies at national and EU levels and assessing their impacts.
What data do we collect?
Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2914, connected with the Regulation on IFS 2026, defines the data sets that will be collected in Agrárium, 2026. Besides, the questionnaire was completed – in relation to national policy planning – with additional questions as well.
The Agrárium 2026 brochure informs on the different themes and provides interesting information on agriculture through figures (available only in Hungarian).
Themes of the full questionnaire:
- Land use
- Territorial characteristics of wine grapes
- Livestock of the farm by age and sex, changes in the livestock of main animal species
- Slaughtering of live animals
- Animal housing and manure management
- Services
- Labour force
- Other gainful activities (OGA) related to the agricultural holding
There are three questionnaires linked to Agrárium 2026:
- OSAP 2242: Integrated farm statistics data collection, 2026 (agricultural enterprises)
- OSAP 2243: Integrated farm statistics data collection, 2026 (private farms)
- OSAP 2374: Integrated farm statistics data collection, 2026 (key private farms)
Who are affected by the data collection?
HCSO is carrying out the IFS data collection in 969 settlements in Hungary. The data collection covers about 47 thousand private farms, 14 thousand agricultural enterprises and some 4.5 thousand key private farms.
The data collection is completely electronic: the data are collected on online interface or on survey tablets.
In Agrárium, 2026 enumerators will visit the following settlements:
Is it compulsory to respond?
Under Articles 24 and 26 of Act CLV of 2016 on Official Statistics, data provision is compulsory for those designated for the data collection.
How do you ensure that my data are properly protected?
The data collection does not include personal data. However, for sole proprietors and primary producers, the name and the address retain their natural character, as do contact details (telephone number, e-mail address), if they are specifically linked to a natural person.
The data collection is accompanied by a prize draw. The information relating to this is governed by points 2.4 and 2.15 of HCSO’s General Data Processing Notice. Other detailed rules relating to the prize draw are set out in the Prize Draw Terms and Conditions.
Why are pre-filled identification data included in the questionnaire and why is it necessary to provide identification data?
The aim of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office is to reduce respondent burden and continuously improve the quality of data. To this end, it highly relies on data from public registers, which will help significantly reduce the length of the questionnaire and the response time in the future.
The adoption of administrative data is made possible for HCSO by Act CLV of 2016 on Official Statistics (Act on Statistics), on the basis of which HCSO adopts data from the National Food Chain Safety Office, the Hungarian State Treasury and also the National Chamber of Agriculture among others.
HCSO shall link the data sets it handles solely for statistical purposes, to the extent and for the duration necessary to achieve the purpose, and shall guarantee the security of the data (pursuant to Article 41 of Act on Statistics).
The Office shall treat confidentially the data collected and use them solely for statistical purposes. The adoption of administrative data is governed by point 1.2 of HCSO’s General Data Processing Notice.
Individually collected data are used exclusively for statistical purposes, the Office using solely aggregate data in publication and not publishing individual data.
