Short description:

The Authority is an autonomous state administration body established in 1995, which is subordinated only to the National Assembly. The Authority is responsible for effectively contributing to framing the public procurement policy and forming and spreading lawful public procurement behaviour to enhance the public and transparent spending of public funds, while considering the public interest and the interest of contracting authorities and tenderers. The Public Procurement Arbitration Board operates within the framework of the Authority, it decides on public procurement related legal disputes and has national competence.

The Public Procurement Authority prepares numerous statistics and analysis on key indicators of Hungarian public procurements, which contributes to the provision of information to the public, furthermore, to Hungarian and European economic-institutional decision makers.

Public procurement statistical data is computed based on data included in contract award notices published in the Public Procurement Bulletin (issued by the Public Procurement Authority), which notices provide information on public procurement procedures conducted in Hungary.
