The official statistical activity:
Pursuant to the authorisation granted by the Central Bank Act, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank collects statistical information for the analysis of financial processes, for the preparation of monetary political decisions, for the overseeing of the operation of payment and clearing systems in order to ensure the smooth flow of domestic payments, for the support of the financial system stability and to the maintenance of the micro- and macroprudential supervisory activity; and the statistics, which are made out of those information are published by the Bank.
The Magyar Nemzeti Bank, due to its status and in the accordance with the expectations, which come from international cooperation, and harmonizing with its international membership obligations, regularly supplies data, statistical information for the European Central Bank, for the Eurostat, for the European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA), for the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for the World Bank and for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Primarily the Bank collects data by the MNB Decrees on statistical data collections, being issued by itself, furthermore data are taken over from certain members of the Official Statistical Service (OSS) in the framework of the OSAP and from certain institutions of the polity. Statistics under the responsibility of the central bank are compiled and published in accordance with the relevant international statistical standards and regulations. Data are transferred for the certain members of the Official Statistical Service by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank based on arrangements.
